Seaweed Anyone?

I was at the co-op with the kiddos today and was chatting with an older couple when the man asked if my hair was naturally blonde..I have to say that's the first time anyone has asked me that. We were talking about the kids and he was wondering if they got their blonde hair from me.

Later, we passed the ever-present basket of sale-priced seaweed snacks and Adrian asked for the bazillionth time what they were. He wanted some so I said what the heck, what if he actually likes them. (I think they taste pretty nasty in case you were wondering.) When we got to the car he took a little nibble and despite the look on his face declared, "Yum! These are good!" Isaac shoved his whole, into his mouth. Hours later, he just had 2 more and shoved them in whole. This is the exact reason that I never decide for my kids what they should or shouldn't like. I think they taste nasty but apparently Isaac loves them!

I'm planning to paint the deck railing next week so in preparation, I have been scraping the loose and chipping paint. So much fun, care to join me? As I was working away, the bees starting getting ca-razy. They always do around 4 or 5 o'clock. It's amazing how quickly it happens. I was vacuuming up the paint right next to this:

I'm off to make blt's with the 'l' and 't' from our garden while Isaac finishes off the seaweed.

Running with the Boys and Lunch at Doncker's

Adrian was a bit under the weather yesterday; slight fever and basically slept the day away. I'm not sure what that was, but he's definitely back to his usual self today. I can't get a word in edgewise.

I had a bunch of errands to run today so as usual, I didn't think to ask someone to watch the boys and just took them along instead. They did pretty great. I got some white paint for the deck railing which desperately needs a new paint job.

We grabbed lunch at Doncker's before heading to the grocery store. It always sounds so fun to have lunch with the kiddos...except for the $20 bill for a couple of sandwiches. It's kind of an old-fashioned mom and pop place with ice cream and a candy store downstairs. The sandwiches are pretty good with toppings that stray from the norm: pesto mayo, gouda cheese, and roasted red pepper. And they have gluten-free bread which is always a plus in my book. The only thing missing was Jeff. (Who works on Saturdays.)

Dear Journal

The other day I was marveling at how different my boys are. Well, make that every day. But, more specifically, I was thinking about how quickly Adrian started talking and I started wondering what he was actually saying at 17 months since Isaac doesn't say much yet. The only place I had that recorded was my blog. I didn't think I would ever blog again but that one post changed my mind.

My intention for this blog is for the sole purpose of recording our daily life so that my kids, and myself, can have something to look back at some day. Whether that be next week or 10 years from now. (Although who knows what will happen with technology in that time and whether this blog will still be here.) It also encourages me to take more pictures of my kiddos since time goes so blasted fast.
